Senator Derrick T. Simmons and the Mississippi Senate on Monday, March 25, 2019, honored Sylvia Green Jackson of Greenville with presentation of Senate Concurrent Resolution 604, commending her 46 years of community service as the Director of the Area Agency on Aging for the South Delta Planning and Development District which serves the counties of Bolivar, Humphreys, Issaquena, Sharkey, Sunflower and Washington.
Jackson plans to retire March 29, 2019, but while addressing the Mississippi senate on Monday still advocating on behalf of the elderly, urging lawmakers to hire them.
Tommy Goodwin, (right), Executive Director of the South Delta Planning and Development District, who appeared with friends and co-workers in the senate with Jackson, said she would be missed for the tremendous job she performed.
"I'm proud to have worked with Mrs. Jackson," Goodwin said. "She has been a friend, mother figure and an example of a hard worker."
