Singer, songwriter and Grammy nominated musician Vasti Jackson a Hattiesburg native, was presented Senate Concurrent Resolution 581 for his achievements and for serving as Arts Ambassador for the state on Thursday, February 16, 2017, for being a 2017 Governor’s Arts Award Recipient. Jackson accepted the resolution from Senator John Horhn as other senators looked on. From left to right are: Senators David Jordan, Willie Simmons, Derrick T. Simmons, Sally Doty and Sollie B.
